Heart to Heart

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Heart attacks kill almost a million Americans a year — not to mention those who die from strokes (more than 160,000 in 2002). The latest data shows that over 64 million Americans suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease — and 39 million of them are age 65 or younger. Sadly, more and more men in their 20s and 30s are dying from what used to be a disease of the elderly.

So how can we stop these progressive heart attacks from wreaking their havoc on so many loved ones?

The major factor in preventing heart attacks and heart disease is to avoid red meats and increase your intake of healthy foods (fruits and vegetables), antioxidants and supplements known to reduce inflammation. These recommendations only include things known to powerfully inhibit atherosclerosis. Other nutrients will help as well in preventing a heart attack - take a closer look at magnesium, iron, vitamin s A and E, and even pure water. Obvious, but crucial advice when it comes to preventing heart attacks; reduce stress, increase your amount of exercise, and decrease your intake of coffee and caffine. Read more helpful info from Dr. Blaylock on what you can do to help prevent heart attacks.

Are yearly medical exams really that important? Who in the world enjoys being poked prodded and often invaded by a stranger and a pair of cold hands?! There may be good news for us after all - Dr. Blaylock wrote an article encouraging more focused exams rather than a blanket physical where lots may be missed. He explains what "normal" tests results really mean and and what and when we should really be testing for including cholesterol. I for one feel better being expectant about what my doctor should be checking for and knowing the best methods to be used. It has opened up great communication concerning my health and for once I feel like I have some control. I also haven't been subjected to unneeded checkup's!

The average kid will eat 109 Ibs. of sugar in a year - 109!!!! We're not even thinking about the future when it comes to planning dinner. We are in an obesity epidmic...it's not wonder our kids are fat - we're fat and our health went out the door with our diet!  65% of American adults can be classified as obese and it looks like our children are thundering behind. Killing Cancer

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Can we really do anything to prevent cancer? Yes. For decades, the word “cancer” has triggered waves of terror in the middle-aged and seniors alike. Most believed they could neither predict nor prevent the mysterious and dreaded disease, which is now a top cause of death in the United States. Did you know that studies show chronic inflammation breeds certain cancers? Or that specific fruits and vegetables contain nutrients that can slash your cancer risk? What if cancer prevention simply came down to our diet? It makes sense - our body is constantly rebuilding its self, cells included and creating its own defense system by using its resources - all of which come from our food. Now...what if its only equipped with indigestible, nutrient void material? It gets sick...it gets cancerous. Read more here about preventing cancer and getting back your health.

Losing My Eyesight

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
'An astonishing 33 million Americans will lose their eyesight this year due to cataracts and age related macular degeneration.' This is extremely unfortunate considering that most of the conditions which may cause blindness can actually be prevented. Sight it crucial to the way your make sense of your world. 'Even though you have five separate senses, 80% of the information you take in from the world is visual - so losing your eyesight is quite tragic!' However, you can follow a few simple and natural steps to prevent common but disabling eye conditions such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration You may already know that cataracts are due to a loss of elasticity in the lens of your eye, which particularly begins to creep up on you after the age of 50. Gradually, the lens (and your vision) becomes cloudy. And macular degeneration is especially debilitating, because it affects the most important part of your eyesight — the central sharp vision portion of your retina. The specialized nerve cells in the macula begin dying off, causing everything in the center of your vision to become blurred. Learn more here from Dr. Blaylock on preserving your sight and retaining your eye health.

Daily Dose of FAT

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Believe it or not, fat is actually good for you! The catch: the right kind of fat. There's never going to be a license to pig out on fried chicken and cheesecake...I'm talking about omega-3. If you want to stay healthy, live longer, and avoid diseases like depression, brain disorders, heart problems, inflammatory and autoimmune disease, even cancer - you have to eat the RIGHT KIND of fat. Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fat - different from the trans fat and it is considered an essential nutrient. These fatty acids play a very important role in growth, disease prevention and even aids in cancer prevention. Again - it all seems to come down to our diet! Do your part - get more Omega - 3 as part of a healthy diet.

Eat More Fat

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
If you want to stay healthy, live longer, and avoid diseases like depression, brain disorders, heart problems, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, even cancer — you have to eat the RIGHT KIND of fats. I'm not giving anyone the liscense to pig out on pizza and cinnamon rolls. Stay away from Tras Fat! This high fructose, partially hydrogenated killer is actually altered by producers to a solid state. This solid is the equivalent of your body trying to digest plastic...it wont work and it definitly causes problems.

The RIGHT KIND of fats in your diet can:

Counteract your risk of stroke and heart disease (so you can kick back and enjoy your relaxed retirement years) Slash your risk of cancer, particularly of the prostate, colon and breast cancer.

President Bush’s most recent physical demonstrated that he’s in near-perfect health. His doctor revealed he takes only one supplement — Omega 3. Outfight autoimmune and inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid, lupus, M.S. and psoriasis (and the pain and activity-limiting stiffness that accompany them) Boost healthy insulin response and relieve neurological symptoms associated with insulin-dependent diabetes. Block the development of depression (and catastrophic brain diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s) Combat behavioral problems like ADHD, autism, even angry and violent behavior.

Vaccinations Gone Wrong

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Everyday we are exposed to a variety of germs and diseases. For years, people have relied on vaccinations or drugs to prevent from getting sick, but growing evidence suggests that improved public health measures and nutrition — not vaccines — have led to a decline in infectious disease. It would be impractical to vaccinate for every possible exposure. Instead it is extremely beneficial to focus on a healthy diet and lifestyle ensuring a strong immune system to fight off such ailments.

Instead of worrying about measles, mumps and chickenpox, better start thinking about Lou Gehrig's, Parkinson's and autism.

Why? Because these are just a few of the diseases linked to vaccines. Do your research and know the benefits and drawbacks of both vaccines and your diet!
